Comrade Barry Smites the Pirates
Recently, President Obama scored a small but important victory for the United States. Pirates had captured an American ship. Many Americans worried that a protracted, and morally ambigious hostage crisis would result. Understandable: Jimmy Carter's Iran embarrasment, Reagan's Iranian arms deal embrologlio, Bill Clinton's botched standoffs at WACO and Ruby Ridge, and George Bush' beheadings videos all have lowered American expectations.
But President Obama came through.
President Obama made good on his word, this time, that American reconciliation should not be interpreted as American weakness. He was decisive and exact. He ordered the US Navy to take military action to rescue our guy. The SEALS went in, killed the pirates, and an American hostage is home alive.
There can be no doubt pirates will think twice before they tangle with another American ship.
